Durante aproximadamente 45 minutos, el Sr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Ministro de Relaciones Exteriores de Japón, sostuvo una videoconferencia con el Excelentísimo Señor Santiago Andrés Cafiero, Ministro de Relaciones Exteriores, Comercio Internacional y Culto de la República Argentina. Japan-Argentina Foreign Ministers’ Video Conference

On December 20, commencing at 8:35 p.m. for approximately 45 minutes, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a video conference with His Excellency Mr. Santiago Andrés Cafiero, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship of the Argentine Republic. The overview of the talk is as follows.
1. At the outset, Minister Hayashi expressed his pleasure to hold their first talk, and stated his intention to work with Minister Cafiero to strengthen the Strategic Partnership between the two countries, which are bound by shared fundamental values and the bonds of the communities of Japanese immigrants and descendants in Argentina.
2. The two Ministers agreed to cooperate towards realizing a free and open international order based on the rule of law. The two Ministers also confirmed the importance of realizing a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” and shared the view that Argentina, which shares basic values with Japan, plays an extremely important role for a democratic and prosperous Latin America and international society. The two Ministers also exchanged views on the situation in North Korea including its nuclear and missile-related activities, and affirmed that they would continue to coordinate in dealing with North Korea, including the abductions issue. The two Ministers agreed to cooperate in the United Nations Human Rights Council, which Argentina will chair in 2022. Furthermore, the two Ministers affirmed that they would collaborate closely toward the successful Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) Review Conference to be held in next January.
3. The two Ministers confirmed that they would cooperate closely in a variety of areas in order to further strengthen bilateral relations. Among them, Minister Hayashi stated the importance of improving a business environment, including preparations for legal frameworks, in order to further expand economic relations between the two countries. The two Ministers agreed to cooperate on global decarbonization.
4. In addition, with regards to 5G, Minister Hayashi emphasized the importance of diversifying suppliers and establishing a telecommunications infrastructure that ensures safety, openness and transparency. The two Ministers agreed to cooperate in the field of telecommunications infrastructure, including 5G.
